Easter Scene - Digital Collage |
Ah…the
early days of Spring. Makes you feel like you want to get out
of the house and go exploring, doesn't it? Where would you go …picnic in a
park…gardening around your home… out for a stroll?
The
tug of visiting an outdoor flea market or an antique shop is
irresistible for collage artists. We are lucky to have several excellent
venues located in our area. They have a spectacular variety of items for
sale…from farm machinery to the most delicate vintage handmade lace. But
I usually have my sights set on the paper ephemera. And what wonders I
have discovered.
For
me, it’s always about the story. I love to find the odd bit of
correspondence tucked away in a book, or written on the back of a
postcard. For a hopeless romantic like me, my imagination soars at the
thought of the possible route the cards and their messages covered from
sender to recipient.
I’ve
noticed when looking through boxes of vintage cards how often spring or
Easter cards are included. They range from religious to just down
right pretty scenes of the countryside. But the sentiments written on
the back usually embrace a feeling of relief that winter is over and
longer, warmer days are so near.
I recently received the Gecko Galz vintage collage sheets filled with wistful Spring and Easter
images. Viewing them, I was transported to an earlier time. I
could well imagine the excitement and anticipation felt by someone waiting for the
mailman to deliver that special keepsake that would allow their heart to sing.
Our challenge for the month of March is to be inspired by all things shabby chic. I wanted my image to have the feel of a vintage postcard. The pink
roses reaching for the sky is from my collection. I added the sweet
image of the peeps and country house from the Gecko Galz sheets. The
French script is compliments of Stampington & Company.
I
have nothing against emails or texts…but isn’t there just something so
special about honest to goodness placed in your hands mail?
And
now it’s your turn. Below you will find a FREE Digistamp from Gecko
Galz to you. Have fun adding it to your Spring correspondence. I know
you will make your recipient’s heart sing!
